Part Four Situational Dialogues

Dialogue One

It is the new students' enrolling day. And it's the first time that Alice has been to the college. She almost gets lost.

Alice: Excuse me.

Harry: Yes, what can I do for you?

Alice: I am new here. Can you tell me how the registration procedure goes?

Harry: No problem. I'll take you to the registration office.

Alice: Oh, thanks a lot! I almost got lost.

Harry: You are welcome.

Dialogue Two

Alice is curious about everything. Harry is so hospitable that he would like to show her around the campus.

Alice: Would you show me around the campus?

Harry: I'd be glad to.

Alice: Is the campus large?

Harry: The campus is nice and large.

Alice: Where shall we go first?

Harry: How about the teaching buildings? Let's make it our first stop.

Alice: OK. I like the architecture style of the campus.

Harry: Look, the building over there is the landmark building on the campus. That's our main teaching building.

Alice: It's such a large building. How large the campus is and I guess the walk around it may take an hour or more. I'm afraid of getting lost.

Harry: Don't worry about it. Our seniors have prepared a freshman guidebook for you.

Alice: Wow, they are so considerate.

Dialogue Three

Alice is looking at the club notices. She asks Harry for some advice.

Harry: What are you doing?

Alice: I'm looking at these club notices. I'm thinking of joining one.

Harry: Which club do you want to join?

Alice: I'd like to get some brochures on these clubs before I make up my mind. Which one did you join?

Harry: I'm a member of the guitar club.

Alice: Do we need to pay club fees?

Harry: No, it is free.

Alice: Wow, that's great.

Harry: The sports meeting is coming. Are you going to enter for it?

Alice: No, I haven't thought of it well.

Harry: Oh, I'm so hungry. Let's go to the canteen. Hurry up, or the canteen will be very crowded.

Alice: OK, I'm starving to death.
